We have a QuickReport Knowledge Base file (kb.zip) available on the download page that addresses many common questions and is a excellent source of tips.  The current KB was last updated in July 2001.

About QuickReport technical support
ONLY users who have purchased QuickReport Professional will receive free technical support via e-mail. To get an answer please follow the guidelines below. If you are using QuickReport  Standard that came bundled with Delphi and/or C++Builder please read the paragraph at the bottom of this page.

 

* QuickReport PROFESSIONAL users who would like to send support emails.

Please send support emails to qrservices@qbssoftware.com and please do not forget to add the following information, otherwise we will reply back will a standard message to supply these details and this will result in delays on both sides:-

- The name you have registered QuickReport under.

- The License Number of the version of QuickReport you have purchased.

- The version of QuickReport and Delphi/C++ Builder you are currently using.

Please note: Always include which version of QuickReport and Delphi and/or C++Builder you use. If appropriate, please also include type of printer(driver), Windows version and any specific nationality settings you use.  If you do not know which version of QuickReport you are currently using, you can right-click on the report at design time and the version number will be displayed at the top of the popup menu.

- The operating system you are using.

* Professional users - lost your serial number ?

Please send an email to "qrservices@qbssoftware.com" with the following information:

Subject of email: "Lost serial number"

Please add to the email body - Your full name, company information (at time of purchase), company name, address, postcode. If you can remember, it would be helpful to add the date of purchase.

* Don't have the new download password?

Please send an email to "qrservices@qbssoftware.com" with the following information:

Subject of email: "Password request"

Please add to the email body - the name you have brought QuickReport under (could be your company name). Also, the License Number of the version of QuickReport you have purchased

* Keep is as short as possible.

Do not write a lot of text to tell how your program works and what it is supposed to do. It's not that we are not interested in your work but it takes too much time going through a 60+ line e-mail trying to figure out what's the real question when it could have been said in a few lines.

* Write in English.

We will not answer messages written in any other language.

* Read the FAQ, Knowledge Base and documentation.

At least 40% of the questions we get are already answered in the FAQ, KB, or documentation or is covered by the demo projects. We will not answer these questions. We know it's often faster to just send a quick e-mail to ask a question rather than looking it up yourself but it generates a lot of unnecessary work.

* Do not include file attachments

99% of the email can be answered without sending any attachments.  Sending file attachments will delay the answering of your message. When you include attachments please make sure to include only needed files enclosed in a pkzip compatible archive file, no EXE  or DCUs.

Getting technical support for QuickReport Standard bundled with Delphi and C++Builder
Please note that only users who have purchased QuickReport Professional qualify for technical support from us. With the large number of Delphi and C++Builder users it's impossible for a small company to provide free support. Borland will give first level support for QuickReport and you should contact them through the regular channels. As an alternative you can use the reporting-charting forum at Borland International web site.
